600 Global (Phoenix, AZ) is gearing up for the second annual Michael and Amanda Sessions Charity Golf Tournament benefitting Operation Smile, a nonprofit medical service organization that provides cleft lip and palate repair surgeries to children worldwide. The event will take place March 31st and April 1st, with the first day at SunRidge Canyon Golf Club in Scottsdale, and the second at Eagle Mountain Golf Club in Fountain Hills. The entry fee is $500 per person.
The event’s goal is to raise $5,000 to fund the life-changing surgeries of 22 children. With $1,950 collected before the tournament has even begun, the team is sure to exceed the prior event’s $2,400 total.
Practice and warm-up are scheduled bright and early on both Friday and Saturday mornings, followed by a day of golfing for a good cause. “We’re ready to compete and have some fun,” said the CEO of 600 Global, Michael.
This year’s event will be a 4-person shamble, with a pro or semi-pro golfer on each of the 5 teams. Each will select the best driver amongst them after teeing off, and then each golfer will play his own ball from that position into the hole. Golfers will be categorized by handicaps, with A and B golfers teeing off from the tips, and C and D golfers teeing off from the whites. The best 2 scores of the group will count for the hole.
Upon the tournament’s completion, all attendees will join together for food, drinks, and of course the announcement of the winner. A big trophy and a giant check (literally) await the champions!
There will also be a raffle of some pretty spectacular gifts. Generous donations thus far include a golf bag and 2 wedges from Mulligan’s; two dozen Titleist PRO V1 golf balls from PCS; and a round of golf for four at SunRidge Canyon Golf Club.
In addition to 600 Global, this year’s sponsors include Modern Acupuncture (Scottsdale, AZ), The Joint Chiropractic (Scottsdale, AZ), Chuck’s Steak House (Rocky Hill, CT), Mulligan’s (Richmond, VA), and PCS (Baltimore, MD).
The reigning champs of the first annual event are Andy Singer, Dave McDonald, Patrick Sessions and Graham Valdes — all of whom will receive -2 for the day. Will the same guys come out on top this year? You’ll have to stay tuned.
