2 Bad Habits You Need to Drop to Be Successful in Your Career

600 Global has had its fair share of success over the last 18+ years — and it’s truly a testament to the positive work habits we practice every day.

Part of developing great habits means dropping all of the bad habits that are weighing you down. Even the most productive and success-minded individuals struggle with doing so — so if you’re in this boat, you’re not alone! The key is to identify the habits that you need to break, and then to change your behaviors — stat!

Here are 2 bad habits to drop today…

Disorganization

Being disorganized can apply to everything from time management to a messy file cabinet. It’s easy to just put things off to the side and forget about them, but eventually they add up. Take control of your life and try to organize it accordingly. You’ll find you’re able to operate with a lot less ambiguity and stress when you always know where things are and have a schedule of your agenda.

Poor planning is at the root of 99% of your stress — we guarantee it! If you go into each week just flying by the seat of your pants, you are missing out on the benefits of being a productive machine! As the saying goes — “Fail to plan, plan to fail.” If you’re looking at a giant to-do list with no idea what to tackle next (or worse, you haven’t even made a to-do list!), it means that you are disorganized. If your car is filthy, your room is a mess, and you don’t know what you’re having for lunch, it might mean that you are disorganized.

Thankfully, this is an easy one to fix. We recommend dedicating a minimum of 30 minutes each week to blocking out time on your calendar for each important meeting and task. Anyone who wants to be successful needs an organized plan.

Procrastinating

Procrastination is often a symptom of poor planning and disorganization. Some people claim they thrive under pressure but flirting with deadlines can be a dangerous game. There are ways to motivate yourself to get things done by a certain time without waiting until the last possible minute. You don’t necessarily have to work ahead but at least try to get started on things when you receive them rather than putting the entire thing off to the last minute. It’s easier said than done but it’s worth it.

600 Global knows how difficult it can be to break these habits, but we also know the rewards you will reap if you are able to overcome them. If you can avoid or break these habits, you’re well on your way to being successful.
