If you haven’t yet heard the news, the CEO of 600 Global, Michael Sessions, has launched a podcast — and it’s turning heads. The Sessions Effect, recorded in Phoenix, AZ, explores a variety of subject matters related to success and fulfillment in business and in life.
Nine ‘sessions’ in, the podcast has already been downloaded hundreds of times on iTunes. A recent reviewer commented, “Excellent insight from a seasoned entrepreneur…” and another raved, “Best motivation! What a great way to change the way you see things…” If you haven’t checked it out yet, you can find The Sessions Effect on iTunes by clicking here. Perhaps Michael Sessions will have the same ‘effect’ on you as he’s had on so many others over his career.
To set the stage for this preview of Session 1, 600 Global’s founder, Michael Sessions, has spent the last two decades training and developing up-and-coming business professionals. Over the years, he has learned that there is a right way and a wrong way to motivate others. In Session 1, Michael explores the “million dollar question” — How do I motivate my team?
First and foremost, Michael points out that being encouraging, rather than making demands, has been his most successful strategy for bringing out the best in his team. He gives specific examples of conversations he might have with an underperforming employee. (You’ll have to listen to the podcast to catch the details!)
In Michael’s eyes, successful leadership is about providing a support system.
“It’s easy to give up when the only person pulling for you is yourself,” he reflects. “But when you know you have someone behind you who believes in you, you decide to keep moving forward. Not only for yourself, but for them as well.”
You won’t finish Session 1 without understanding the difference between constructive and destructive conversations. You’ll learn how address a person’s performance without being demoralizing — by looking at the numbers, being solution oriented, and most importantly, being encouraging.
If you’re ready to hear Michael Sessions work his magic, head over to iTunes to check out the first session. While you’re there, be sure to subscribe. Enjoy!
